Celebrate all the wins
May was a tough month.
Tight deadlines, 12–14 hour days, and some real emotional lows. I won’t go into everything because it was a lot, and honestly, it was draining.
But as we step into June, I want to take a moment to reflect on the highlights, not just the hard parts. Because even in the chaos, there were some real wins…
🔵 Partnered with JDD | Joint Design Direction to create a batch of tote bags using their beautiful furniture fabric offcuts for Clerkenwell Design Week
🔵 Submitted my final assignment for the first year of my MA in Craft at The Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester School of Art
🔵 Completed and installed my denim interactive turntables for the #VerticalGallery at Manchester School of Art,on display for the next few months
🔵 I made my own vinyl records and covers to accompany the work (they don’t work as everything is oversized the denim ones are 17” and the Perspex ones are 14”)
🔵 Gave my first talk/demo outside of Birmingham for #Dorkbot in Manchester
🔵 Was nominated to receive a bottle of Severan from none other than Dean Forbes for my #PODIUMMoment (picked it up yesterday!)
🔵 Got my grades back for said assignment, even better than expected and the feedback truly lifted my spirits
Hearing people in Manchester, most seeing my work for the first time, give such warm and encouraging feedback was incredibly affirming. It reminded me that sometimes, we get so caught up in the struggle that we forget to celebrate what went right.
The bottle of Severan arrived at just the right moment. Because yes, I do have things to celebrate.
So here’s to June, may it bring more opportunity, and hopefully… be a little kinder. 🙏🏾
